Public Notice

Notification of application for a Storage Authorisation Order
 
WINGAS Storage UK Ltd (company registration number 953066) whose registered office is at Building 3, Chiswick Business Park, 566 Chiswick High Road, London W4 5YA hereby gives notice, pursuant to Section 4 and  Schedule 2 to the Gas Act 1965, that it has applied  to the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change for the making of a Storage Authorisation Order authorising the Company to store natural gas in porous strata underground at Saltfleetby in Lincolnshire and for directions that planning permission for the development under Section 90 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and hazardous substances consent under Section 12 of the Planning (Hazardous Substances) Act 1990 be deemed to be granted.

The surface area of the Storage Area is located between the villages of Saltfleetby St Peter, South Somercotes and the hamlet of Skidbrook and is shown edged in red on the accompanying map.  There is no protective area outside the storage area.

It is proposed that the gas will be imported from the National Grid, stored in and redelivered from depleted porous gas reservoirs within the Saltfleetby gas field located at a minimum depth of 2240 metres subsurface.  Aside from any remaining indigenous gas, the volume of gas it is proposed to store will be up to 0.735 billion cubic metres.

A copy of the proposals and the accompanying map can be viewed during normal office hours at the Planning Department offices of East Lindsey District Council at Tedder Hall, Manby Park, Louth, Lincolnshire LN11 8UP or during normal opening hours at Louth Library, Northgate, Louth, LN11 OLY.

Additional copies of the Non Technical Summary are available at no charge. It can also be found at WSUK’s website – www.wingas-storage.com.  Copies of the Application, including the Environmental Statement, are available on CD-ROM at a cost of £10.00 or, alternatively, as a hard copy at a cost of £150.00. A copy of the proposals and the accompanying map have also been provided to the Clerk of each of the following Parish Councils: Grimoldby & Manby Parish Council, North Cockerington Parish Council, North Somercotes Parish Council, Saltfleetby Parish Council, Skidbrook with Saltfleet Haven Parish Council, South Cockerington Parish Council, South Somercotes Parish Council and Theddlethorpe (All Saints & St Helen) Parish Council.

Any representations from the public should be made in writing, stating the grounds of any objection, to The Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, c/o Rob Pridham, Consents Manager, Energy Development Unit, V 2121, 1 Victoria Street, London SW1H OET by 31st December 2008.
