The inquiry was held in respect of:
i) Application for a Storage Authorisation Order
WINGAS Storage UK Limited’s application to the Secretary of State for Energyand Climate Change dated 24 October 2008 for a storage authorisation order under section 4 of the Gas Act 1965 to store gas in underground natural porous strata at Saltfleetby Gas Field, Lincolnshire and for directions that planning permission for the development under Section 90 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and hazardous substances consent under section 12 of the Planning (Hazardous Substances) Act 1990 be deemed to be granted; and
ii) The Wingas Storage UK Limited (Saltfleetby Gas Storage Facility) Compulsory Purchase Order 2009
Under the Acquisition of Land Act 1981, Gas Act 1965 & Gas Act 1986
Confirmation of the above order made to the Secretary of State, which provides for:
- the compulsory purchase of new rights over under and on land as specified in the Order under section 12 of the Gas Act 1965 and schedule 3 to the Gas Act 1986; and
- the compulsory purchase of land as specified in the Order under section 13 of the Gas Act 1965 and schedule 3 to the Gas Act 1986.
The Secretary of State appointed Mr I McPherson BSC CENG CENV MICE MCIWEM, an Inspector in the Planning Inspectorate, to conduct the public local inquiry on his behalf. He was assisted by Mr M Kilcullen BENG(HONS) CENG MIET, an Engineering Inspector in the Department of Energy and Climate Change.
